CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team welcomes No. 23-ranked Houston and Tulane to Fifth Third Arena for Alumni Weekend.
 
The Bearcats (6-16, 4-8 AAC) will take on No. 23 Houston at 6 p.m. on Friday. The match will celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Cincinnati volleyball as well as honor alumni of the program. Fans are also encouraged to bring a donated item to support the UC Bearcats Pantry and Resource Center.
 
UC will then host Tulane for a noon matchup on Sunday. 
 
Both matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ and can be followed via live stats
 
// 50 YEARS OF UC VOLLEYBALL
Cincinnati is set for its annual Alumni Weekend at Fifth Third Arena. The program will celebrate its 50-year anniversary on Friday night when the Bearcats host 23rd-ranked Houston at 6 p.m. 
 
The Cincinnati volleyball program has seen plenty of success over its first 50 years, winning over 1,000 matches, making 13 NCAA Tournaments, and having eight All-Americans.
 
// WEEKEND REWIND
The Bearcats were swept by both Memphis and SMU to move to 4-8 in the AAC and 2-8 on the road this season. Cincinnati hit .107 for the weekend and had nine service errors and only one service ace, after coming off a weekend where the Bearcats notched 14 aces in their win over USF on Oct. 23 in Cincinnati. Freshman Avry Tatum led the Bearcats with 2.50 kills and 0.67 blocks per set. She recorded 10 kills at a .320 clip to go along with four blocks against SMU.
 
// LEAGUE LEADERS
Senior Payton Frederick ranks fifth in the AAC in digs per set (3.73) and is averaging 4.11 digs per set in league play. She has led the Bearcats in digs in all but five matches this season. Sophomore Abby Walker sits 10th in the AAC in blocks per set (0.89). 
 
In AAC play, freshman Carly Glendinning ranks ninth in kills per set (3.43) and 10th in points per set (3.72). Sophomore setter Emme Madden made her return to the court in AAC action and ranks fifth in conference play with 9.44 assists per set. 
 
// ROOKIES RISING TO THE CHALLENGE
Freshmen outside attackers Glendinning and Tatum have stepped up for the Bearcats in conference play, both having earned a spot on the AAC weekly honor roll for their performances. Glendinning is averaging 3.43 kills per set in AAC play – good for ninth in the league. She has recorded 12 matches in double figures and has led the team in kills five times. Tatum is adding 2.87 kills per set to go along with 0.93 digs per set. She has 12 matches with 10-plus kills, including seven in AAC play.
 
// SERIES HISTORY
Cincinnati has dominated the all-time series against Tulane, boasting a 33-4 record. The Bearcats have won four straight against the Green Wave, including a four-set victory earlier this season on Sept. 23 in New Orleans. In the first meeting between the two teams this season, Glendinning (17), Walker (11) and Tatum (10) all finished with double-digit kills while Frederick posted 17 digs on defense. 
 
UC is 16-11 all-time against Houston. The Cougars have won three straight in the series, including a four-set decision on Sept. 25 in Houston. Prior to that, the Bearcats had won eight in a row. In the first between the two teams this season, Glendinning put down a career-high 19 kills while the Bearcats were +12 in digs (71-59). The first three sets were decided by a combined six points.
