CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team defeated Tulane in four sets on Sunday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena.
The Bearcats (7-17, 5-9 AAC) earned the season sweep of the Green Wave. UC has now won five straight against Tulane.
Cincinnati's attacking trio of Shaye Eggleston, Carly Glendinning and Abby Walker combined for 45 kills in the win. Eggleston recorded a season-high 18 kills at an impressive .429 hitting percentage. She added 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
Glendinning notched 16 kills, five digs and three blocks while Walker finished with 11 kills, two aces and two digs.
Freshman setter Caroline Endres dished out 44 assists to go along with nine digs, three aces and two blocks. She guided UC to a .311 hitting percentage (58-16-135).
Defensively, redshirt senior Kailea Carrier tied her career-high six blocks to go along with six kills at a .500 clip. Seniors Payton Frederick and Kerstin Ficker combined for 21 digs.

SET 1 | Cincinnati jumped out to a 5-1 advantage thanks to three kills and an attacking error by Tulane. The Bearcats extended their lead to 13-3 after back-to-back blocks from Carrier and Glendinning, followed by two straight aces from Endres. After a small run by the Green Wave, UC rattled off five straight points, including back-to-back kills from Glendinning. The Bearcats hit .385 (12-2-26) to win the opening set, 25-12.
SET 2 | Tulane got out to the early advantage in the second set, forcing a UC timeout at 11-7. The Green Wave led by as many as nine before the Bearcats used a 5-0 run to make it a four-point game (24-20). Tulane would score on the next point to win the frame, 25-20. UC hit .162 compared to Tulane's clip of .343 in the stanza.
SET 3 | Cincinnati used a 3-0 scoring run to open a 7-4 lead in the third set. Frederick later found Madison Waters to put UC up, 12-8. Tulane went on a run of its own to tie up the set at 17 apiece. The two teams then traded points until Eggleston finished off the set with three kills, 25-21.
SET 4 | The Bearcats once again found success early, owning a five-point lead at 13-8. A solo block by Carrier got UC to 15 first, 15-10. Cincinnati then put down three straight kills, two from Eggleston and one from Walker, to extend its lead to seven (18-11). Tulane responded with a 4-0 spurt to cut UC's advantage to four (19-15). That would be as close as Tulane would get as Cincinnati held on for the win, 25-18. Four of Cincinnati's final five points were scored by freshmen.
