BISCAYNE BAY, FLA.— The University of Cincinnati men's team were crowned team champions after recording three top-15 finishes at the 2022 CSCAA College National Open Water Championships on Sunday.

"I am really proud of our Bearcats distance crew for competing in the open water national championship and for the men to win the team event," head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle said. Both men & women raced really well, especially for some of our team competing in an event like this for the first time. My associate coach, Joey Ferreri, prepared the team well in the water and his extensive knowledge of open water competitions helped them strategize their races."

Freshman Ido Gal led the way for the UC men to claim their second Open Water team championship in UC history. Gal swam the 5K race in 54:45.46, placing third overall, tying the best finish by a Bearcat at the meet.
