CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati men's basketball program has signed Old Dominion graduate transfer forward Kalu Ezikpe as its first addition of the spring.
Ezikpe (Lawrenceville, Ga.) has one year of eligibility. He has increased his scoring, rebounding and minutes each year of his career, culminating in 11.3 points and 7.1 boards per game (eighth in C-USA) this season. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound team captain also shot 52.2 percent from the field and 73.5 percent from the foul line to go with a team-high 36 blocks.
Ezikpe earned C-USA Player of the Week honors on Feb. 28, which included a 17-point, 17-rebound outing in a win over Florida Atlantic, one of his three double-doubles. As a junior, he scored 10.3 ppg with 6.7 rpg (seventh in C-USA), including a career-high 22 points at Charlotte and 13 boards against Middle Tennessee.
Earlier in his career, Ezikpe had 14 rebounds in 20 minutes as a sophomore in a win over UAB, plus eight points, four blocks, and the game-winning assist against Louisiana Tech as a freshman in the C-USA Quarterfinals. He helped Old Dominion to the 2019 Conference USA regular-season and tournament titles and was Georgia's No. 7 prospect out of Discovery High School.
