CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team released its 2022 schedule, announced by head coach Neil Stafford on Thursday.
The Bearcats' 19-match slate features 10 regular season home contests at Gettler Stadium. Cincinnati will play against five opponents, SMU, Memphis, South Florida, Bowling Green and Butler, that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
Cincinnati will travel for two road exhibitions at Butler (Aug. 7) and Louisville (Aug. 12) before opening the regular season at home with the Riverboat Rivalry against Northern Kentucky (Aug. 18). The Bearcats then remain home to face Michigan State (Aug. 21) before alternating between matches at Bowling Green (Aug. 25) and home against Murray State (Aug. 28) to close out the month.
September opens at home against Stony Brook (Sept. 1) before a two-match road tilt at Pittsburgh (Sept. 4) and Western Michigan (Sept. 8).
Cincinnati kicks off American Athletic Conference play at home against reigning AAC champion Memphis (Sept. 22). The conference opener caps the longest homestand of the season where the Bearcats will also host Morehead State (Sept. 11) and Washington (Sept. 16) in a three-match set.
In addition to welcoming Memphis, the Bearcats will take on Temple (Oct. 9), Houston (Oct. 20) and South Florida (Oct. 23) in home league action.
To round out the eight-match AAC schedule, Cincinnati will be on the road for conference games at UCF (Sept. 29), Tulsa (Oct. 6), SMU (Oct. 16), and the regular season finale at East Carolina (Oct. 27).
Entering the 10th season under Stafford, the Bearcats return three All-AAC honorees in two-time AAC Defensive Player of the Year Ashley Barron, Second-Team All-AAC Vanessa DiNardo and All-Rookie Team Paige Miller. The team will also include four of the top five contributors in points from 2021.
