CINCINNATI — University of Cincinnati student-athletes Ellie Leather and Camryn Streid have been selected as nominees for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Rooted in Title IX and directed by the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics, the NCAA Woman of the Year program celebrates the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of outstanding female college athletes.
This year's nominees represent all three NCAA divisions, including 248 from Division I, 127 from Division II and 202 from Division III. Of the 577 nominations, 23 sports are represented, with 125 student-athletes competing in multiple sports.

Leather, a standout on the cross country and track and field team, was a seven-time AAC champion and five-time school record holder. She was the first Bearcat ever to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after advancing out of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional this past fall.
Her historic season continued into indoors where she took third in the mile at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. It marked the first track and field student-athlete in program history to place in the top three in a running event at NCAAs. She earned First Team All-America honors for the performance.
She most recently qualified for the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships where she garnered Second Team All-America accolades in the 1500m.
Academically, she was a CoSIDA First Team All-District selection and two-time AAC All-Academic honoree. She was awarded the prestigious 2022 UC Athletics Jean Stephens Memorial Award and was inducted into the 2021 UC Legion of Excellence. She earned her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in nutrition.
Off the track, Leather has participated in Aruna Project Run, Women's Cross Country Run Against Hunger and Food For All.

Streid, captain of the women's swimming and diving program, was an AAC champion in the 400 IM and two-time school record holder. She earned the program's Most Valuable Award in 2022 as well as the department's One-Team Student-Athlete Award in 2021.
During the 2021-22 season, she broke the two-minute barrier in the 200 Fly, set a new school and personal record in the 200 IM at the AAC Championships with a time of 2:00.02 to finish in second place, and bested her school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:13.63.
Streid has been active in the community since arriving on campus. She volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, Good Samaritan Hospital and Freestore Foodbank. She served as the chapter correspondent of Delta Delta Delta fraternity and led the Inspire, Equip, Connect organization.
In addition, she was a finalist for the Nancy Hamant Scholar-Athlete Award, Community Cats Award, Helen Norman Smith Award and Jean Stephens Memorial Award.
Streid earned her bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology and hearing services with a 3.95 GPA this spring. She was a four-time AAC All-Academic Team selection and made the Dean's List all eight semesters.

Conference offices will select up to two nominees each from their pool of member school nominees. All nominees who compete in a sport not sponsored by their school's primary conference, as well as associate conference nominees and independent nominees, will be considered by a selection committee. Then, the Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division.
From the Top 30, the Woman of the Year selection committee will determine the top three honorees in each division and announce nine finalists.
