CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati Athletics Department is proud to recognize its teams and individual student-athletes for their numerous academic achievements in Fall 2022.

The department posted a 3.363 overall GPA, its 10th-straight semester with a 3.3 or higher. Forty-three student-athletes earned TopCat honors (4.0 GPA), 236 more made the Dean's List (56 percent) and 330 (78 percent) earned Honor Roll accolades for posting a 3.0.

"I am extremely proud of the work our student-athletes and the academic support staff put into the Fall semester," said Dr. Joe Luckey, Executive Sr. Associate AD for Student Athlete Support Services. "One special piece for this fall semester was the record number of new student-athletes (Freshman and Transfers) in the athletics department. Those students achieved in the classroom just as well as the returnees which is a statement about the culture built by our coaches and our previous students. The expectation is to always achieve a 3.0 semester GPA or higher."

Overall, 15 of the school's 16 programs posted a 3.0-or-higher team GPA, with women's cross country earning their highest-ever. Cross country earned the men's and women's crowns with a 3.662 and 3.792 GPA, respectively. Eight teams had at least a 3.5, while three others were above a 3.4.

"This group of women is a joy to coach because they are incredibly motivated, both in their studies and in their sports," said women's cross country coach Sarah Anderson. "I've got a lot of type-A student-athletes in my group, and their consistency and drive to hunker down and do the work is the main reason they created a successful academic semester. To be a good cross country athlete, you need to be a hard worker on and off the track, and this crew brings the same fire and mentality to their education. I am super proud of their accomplishments in the classroom!"
