CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati junior Hunter Gubeno was named American Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

This is the second time this season that he has earned the honor. He is the first Bearcat men's swimmer two earn the honor twice in the same season since Dominic Polling achieved the feat during the 2018-19 season.

"Hunter is looking great at this point in the season," head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle said. "He is performing at a high level and is working to continue to improve his races."

The Howell, Michigan native won both the 100-yard (49.00) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:46.36) in the dual against Keyon College last Friday. He scored a team-high-tying 18 points throughout the meet, leading the men's team to a 190-to-106-point dual win.

He now has 10 individual event wins this season with five coming in the 200-yard backstroke.
