CINCINNATI – Redshirt sophomore forward Viktor Lakhin finished with a career-high 22 points on 11-14 from the field and 10 rebounds, but the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team fell 75-68 to Memphis inside Fifth Third Arena on Sunday.

Cincinnati is now 14-7 overall, 5-3 in the AAC on the season.

The career-high affair marks the first 20-plus point scoring game from Lakhin, who was one of a trio of Bearcats that finished in double-figures. Redshirt senior guard Landers Nolley II turned in his 11th-straight double-digit outing with 18 points, while graduate student guard David DeJulius added 15 points behind 10-11 from the free throw line.

A corner three from Nolley II on the opening possession got the Bearcats on the scoreboard first before the Tigers mounted an early lead on a 12-0 spurt over the next six minutes of action.

Cincinnati weathered the early offensive struggles and responded with an 8-0 run of their own over a 1:39-minute span behind six points by DeJulius. DeJulius converted on four consecutive free throws and found Lakhin for a paint finish to make it 12-11 at the under 12-minute media timeout.

DeJulius converted on four more free throws to cut the deficit to 28-18 with 6:09 remaining before the break. DeJulius finished the first half 8-9 from the line. Lakhin added six points over the final five minutes of the period to finish with 10 points in the first half. The Bearcats made four of their last five field goals, but trailed 42-32 at the half.

Nolley II second three of the afternoon trimmed the margin to five at the first media timeout in the second half.

A 6-0 spark off a pair of threes from senior guard Jeremiah Davenport tied the game at 50 at the 12-minute media timeout.

Memphis answered with an 9-1 run out of the timeout before a pullup jumper from Nolley II cut the deficit back to four with 7:29 minutes left in the game.

Cincinnati held their visitors to no field goals over the final 4:25 minutes of regulation, but the margin would not get any closer than four as the Bearcats could not complete the comeback.

Cincinnati will be back in action when the Bearcats travel to take on No.1 Houston next Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2:15 p.m. ET on CBS.
