CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team makes the short trip to take on Kentucky for a weekday match inside Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.
This marks the fourth consecutive road match to open the season.
Cincinnati battled throughout but ultimately dropped two close road matches to Purdue and Indiana last weekend. Redshirt junior Kelli Niehaus has secured two singles victories on court four, while redshirt senior Maria Santilli has also picked up a pair of singles win on court three through the first three matches. Freshman Katie Ferguson earned her first collegiate dual match win in straight sets against the Hoosiers.
Kentucky is off to a 3-1 start after two home doubleheaders last weekend. The Wildcats have excelled off strong starts this spring, securing the doubles point in three of their first four matches. The pair of junior Makayla Mills and senior Florencia Urrutia leads the team with an unblemished 3-0 doubles record, while junior Elizabeth Stevens and freshman Zoe Hammond have compiled 4-0 singles starts.
Cincinnati will be back in action when the Bearcats travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to face Utah and Montana inside George S. Eccles Tennis Center on Feb. 4-5.
