LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Freshman Joleigh Crye broke the University of Cincinnati women's 100-yard breaststroke record as both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Louisville in the Bearcats' final dual meet of the season on Saturday.

"We had a great weekend of racing against tough competition to finish up our dual meet season, head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle said. "I'm proud of the work the team has put in this season and am really looking forward to resting and preparing for our conference championship meet."

The UC men fell, 203-94, while the women lost 198-92 inside the Cardinals' Ralph Wright Natatorium.

Crye capped off her freshman season by winning the women's 100 breaststroke and breaking her own UC record with a time of 59.57. She is the first Bearcat women's swimmer ever to break the 1-minute barrier in the event. The Avon, N.Y. native's time currently ranks inside the top 25 nationally and is an NCAA "B" standard time.
 

Junior Hunter Gubeno dominated the men's backstroke events.. He won both the 100-yard backstroke (48 .10) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:42.85). Gubeno has now won a team-leading 16 individual events throughout the season.

Freshman Lily Jones took home first place in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.83. Jones also placed third overall in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.55.

Grabbing second-place finishes were freshman Grace Gavin in the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.50), senior Katherine Connolly in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.35) and freshman Ingrid Fretz in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.18).

On the men's side, freshman Collin Singler in the 100-yard butterfly (48.66), sophomore Will Claus in the 10-meter dive (252.38) and senior Kevin Leibold in the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.65 also tallied second-place finishes.

The Bearcats will have a two-week break before both teams head to Dallas for the American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will begin on Monday, Feb. 13, and end on Saturday, Feb.18.
