Cincinnati Opens Short Road Trip at Tulsa

The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team travels to take on Tulsa inside Donald W. Reynolds Center in the first of a two-game road stint on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team travels to take on Tulsa inside Donald W. Reynolds Center in the first of a two-game road stint on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
It will be the 15th series meeting and the first this season between the conference opponents. Cincinnati leads the all-time series 8-6 and 3-2 on the road. The Bearcats are looking to extend a two-game winning streak and are 5-1 in the series under head coach Michelle Clark-Heard.
 
Jillian Hayes turned in her third career double-double and Cincinnati overcame a 21-point deficit to defeat Tulsa 66-60 at home in the last series meeting on Jan. 29, 2022.
 
Wednesday will be a match of the top two shot blocking teams in the conference. Cincinnati leads the conference and ranks 14th nationally with 5.1 blocks per game, while Tulsa is second with 4.7 blocks per game. Junior guard Jillian Hayes and junior forward/center Malea Williams lead the conference and stand 57th nationally with 1.6 blocks per game. Cincinnati has recorded five or more blocks in ten games, while seven different Bearcats have recorded at least one multi-block game this season.
 
Cincinnati fell 69-50 to Wichita State inside Fifth Third Arena last time out on Jan. 28. Redshirt sophomore forward Taziah Jenks and junior forward/center Malea Williams tied with team-high in rebounds and assists, while each played career-high minute totals. Jenks finished with seven points, seven rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes, while Williams finished with four points, seven rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes. Senior guard Mya Jackson scored a team-high 12 points following a one-game absence due to injury. Cincinnati received 22 points from their bench; the Bearcats have now scored at least 20 points per game off its bench in 14 of 20 contests.
 
The Bearcats have received contributions from a multitude of players as 11 of 13 Bearcats are averaging double-digit minutes per game. Cincinnati has also employed 13 different starting lineup combinations through 20 games. The Bearcats have had 14 double-digit scoring efforts off its bench this season.
 
The Tulsa Hurricane are 15-6 overall, 5-3 in the AAC in their second season under head coach Angie Nelp. The Hurricane are averaging 76.9 points per game and allowing 59.7 points, a +17.2 margin, at home. Tulsa is 9-2 at home this season. Freshman forward Temira Poindexter leads the team with 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. She is one of four Hurricane averaging double-digit points per game.
