CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team closes out an early season road stint when the Bearcats make the short trip down I-71 to face Louisville inside Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday at 11 a.m. ET.
Friday concludes seven straight matches away from home to open the season.
Cincinnati split two matches with Utah and Montana last weekend. The Bearcats fell 4-0 to the host Utes on Saturday before responding with a 4-1 win over Montana on Sunday. Cincinnati swept all courts in doubles to take the initial lead from Montana and claimed the final three points in straight-set singles wins on courts one, five and six. Freshman Natasha Opaciuch earned her first collegiate dual match singles victory with a 6-0, 6-4 win on court six. The Grizzlies cut the deficit back to one point by taking court three before the sophomore pair of Elizabeth Pendergast and Callie Flanagan battled through first-set tiebreakers to secure the match win.
Pendergast has won two of her last three matches at the top singles position.
Louisville also enters the match off a split weekend with No.9-ranked Vanderbilt and James Madison. The Cardinals are 4-2 this season with all four wins coming at home. Senior Andrea Di Palma leads the team with a 2-1 record at the top singles court, while sophomore Tyra Richardson has compiled a four-match win streak.
Cincinnati welcomes Marshall for its home opener inside Western Athletic Club on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. ET.
