GLENDALE, Ariz. – Former Cincinnati football stars Travis Kelce and Bryan Cook became the 17th and 18th Bearcats to be crowned Super Bowl champions after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35, on Sunday night at State Farm Stadium.
Kelce finished with six catches for 81 yards and one first-quarter touchdown as he won his second Super Bowl with Chiefs. He broke the record for career postseason touchdowns by a tight end (16) and has solidified himself as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. He now trails only Jerry Rice in career playoff touchdown receptions (22).
Kelce and his brother, Jason, the Eagles' center and also a former Bearcat, became the first pair of brothers to face off in the Super Bowl.
Travis Kelce is a four-time All-Pro honoree, including this fall. He played at UC from 2009 to 2012, and recently launched the Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation, an endowment that will fund Cincinnati's Sports Psychology and Counseling Department, directly impacting and aiding all 450 student-athletes.
Cook had one tackle in the Super Bowl. He played in 16 regular season games for the Chiefs in 2022 – mostly as a rotational safety and special teams contributor. He tallied 33 tackles and made one start. Cook, a Cincinnati native, played 25 games for the Bearcats after transferring from Howard. He had 96 tackles and collected All-AAC First Team honors during a breakout 2021 campaign.
