CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati lacrosse attackers Grace Wehland and Camryn Callaghan were named the Attacker and Freshman of the Week, respectively, following their weekend performances.
Wehland had hat tricks in a pair of games as part of a Bearcat attack that averaged 18.5 goals last week. She scored four goals with two assists in a 24-9 win against Robert Morris and had three goals and three assists in a 19-13 setback to Marquette. Wehland, who connected on seven of her nine shots, also added five ground balls. She has 10 goals and seven assists through four games in 2023. The senior from Bel Air, Md., also earned an Attacker of the Week last season.
Callaghan led all American Athletic Conference players with 13 goals in two games last week, including an eight-goal performance against Marquette that matched the Bearcats' single-game record. She scored five goals with an assist in a 24-9 win against Robert Morris and had nine points (8g, 1a) in a 19-13 loss to Marquette. Callaghan, a native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, leads The American with 21 goals and 28 points in 2023 and has earned Freshman of the Week both opportunities this season.
