CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team looks for a season series split when the Bearcats travel to take on Memphis inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Wednesday will be the 64th meeting and the second of the season between the conference opponents. It marks the second longest rivalry in terms of total games in program history. Memphis leads the all-time series 38-25 and 19-8 at home. The Bearcats are 8-3 in the series under head coach Michelle Clark-Heard.

The Bearcats dropped a 78-58 contest inside Fifth Third Arena in the first season meeting on Jan. 14. Senior guard Mya Jackson finished with a team-high 18 points on her way to surpassing 1,000 career points. She is currently one of 13 active American Athletic Conference players to reach the mark.

Cincinnati fell 65-54 at home to Tulane last time out on Feb. 18. Junior guard Jillian Hayes finished with eight points and a career-high 15 rebounds. The 15 rebounds are the most by a Bearcat and marks her ninth game with 10-plus rebounds this season. Senior guard Mya Jackson scored a team-high 15 points, her 17th game this season and third straight contest in double-digits. Redshirt sophomore forward Taziah Jenks dished out a career-high four assists.

The Bearcats finished with a season-low eight turnovers against the Green Wave, tied for the lowest since the program recorded only six turnovers at Bucknell on Nov. 28, 2019.

The Memphis Tigers are 16-9 overall, 8-4 in the AAC in its second season under head coach Katrina Merriweather. The Tigers have won their last four contests and are 7-4 at home this season. Fifth year guard Jamirah Shutes leads the team with 14.8 points per game. She is one of two players averaging double-digit points per game. The Tigers are averaging 70.6 points and allowing 60.2 points per game, a +10.4 margin, at home. Memphis is the top offensive rebounding team in the conference, averaging 16.3 offensive rebounds per game.

Merriweather played and coached at Cincinnati. Merriweather started her coaching career with the Bearcats as a graduate assistant in 2001-02 after helping lead the team to a 26-5 record and the NCAA Tournament Second Round. As a player, she became the first player in program history to advance to postseason play all four years, competing in the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and the WNIT in 1998, 2000 and 2001. She earned an 83-41 record throughout her four-year playing career.
