GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to No. 7-ranked Florida in the final game of the series on Sunday at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Fla.
The Gators hit eight home runs on the way to a 13-7 victory over the Bearcats.
For the Bearcats (2-5), freshman Kyle Schupmann went 2-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Junior Ryan Nicholson went 2-for-5 with a double while junior Cole Harting was 1-for-3 with one RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
The Bearcats used six pitchers in the game. Redshirt junior starter Chase Hopewell (0-1) allowed three runs on four hits and struck out three with three walks in four innings. Freshman Tommy Boba made his collegiate debut in the seventh inning and tossed a scoreless frame.

Cincinnati loaded the bases in the top of the first inning. Harting was hit-by-pitch, Nicholson singled to left field and Alec Jones was walked. An error allowed Harting to come home for the first run of the game.
Florida evened the contest with a solo home run in the bottom of the second and took its first lead in the the fourth off a two-run homer, 3-1.
The Bearcats drew four walks to score two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Griffin Hugus and Harting drew back-to-back, one-out walks. Jones then loaded the bases with a two-out walk, followed by an RBI hit-by-pitch from Kameron Guidry. Freshman pinch hitter Landyn Vidourek drew a walk to bring home Harting and even the score, 3-3.
The Gators responded with a two-run shot against Mitch White to take a two-run advantage heading into the sixth, 5-3.
Cincinnati made it a one-run game in the next frame. Josh Hegemann laid down a one-out bunt and advanced to third after a single down the left field line by Hugus. Harting then delivered an RBI single through the left side to plate Hegemann.
Florida homered three times in the bottom of the sixth to own a five-run lead, 9-4.
Schupmann notched an RBI single in the top of the seventh and hit his first career home run in the top of the ninth, a two-run shot to left field, but the Bearcats fell 13-7 in the series finale.
