CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's soccer head coach Erica Demers announced the hiring of assistant coaches John Robertson and Rachael Collins

Robertson and Collins join Demers in Cincinnati after serving under her staff at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for multiple seasons. Robertson coached four total seasons with the Blazers, while Collins coached the last two seasons with the program.

The trio combined to lead the program to 11 All-Conference selections and an overall record of 16-13-8 over the last two seasons.

Collins' stint in Birmingham followed two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Alabama. She coached five All-SEC performers, including Reyna Reyes who was named to the United Soccer Coaches' All-Southeast Region Third Team.

Prior to Tuscaloosa, she served as an assistant coach for two seasons at UC Davis. In her time with the Aggies, she coached four All-Big West selections, including the program's all-time leader in shutout and saves in Alexis Smith.

Collins attended Pepperdine University from 2013-17 where she earned her place in the starting lineup during her freshman season and maintained it throughout her college career. She was a cornerstone in the midfield that helped lead Pepperdine to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 berth in 2014. Collins also has a USSF D license.

Robertson's second stint in Birmingham came after spending 2019 as an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo. The Falcons won the GSC Tournament and advanced to the Division II NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007 after finishing with a 14-4-4 overall record and spending a record 10 consecutive weeks in the regional poll.

Robertson volunteered under Demers at UAB in 2018, where he helped guide the Blazers to the third seed in Conference USA and advanced to the conference tournament quarterfinal. He helped coach Kelsey Daugherty to Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Year honors and First Team All-Conference, United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team and Conference USA All-Academic First Team selections.

He joined the Blazers after serving as the men and women's assistant coach at his alma-mater Maryville College (Tenn.) in 2016. A former four-year lettermen with the Fighting Scots, Robertson helped lead the program to three Great South Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament titles during his collegiate career. He was also named a two-time Great South Atlantic All-Conference team selection in 2011 and 2012.

Robertson holds his USSF C License and a United Soccer Coaches Level 1 in Goalkeeper coaching.
