CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball graduate student Dylan Brosky was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
In addition, redshirt junior Alec Jones earned a spot on the AAC weekly honor roll for his performances at the plate. This is the first AAC weekly honor for both players.
Brosky, a right-handed pitcher from East Millsboro, Pa., tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout in a 9-0 win against North Alabama on Saturday. He struck out seven batters with only one walk in seven innings of work. It marked the first complete-game shutout by a Bearcat since J.T. Perez did so on April 20, 2018 against No. 24 UConn.
Brosky has registered six complete games in his career, including two complete-game shutouts. He boasts a 2.45 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched this season.
Jones, a catcher from Poway, Calif., batted .571 (4-for-7) with three RBI, two walks and two runs scored in three games played. He finished with a .667 on-base percentage and 1.143 slugging percentage.
He delivered the walk-off single in the Bearcats' 2-1 win over North Alabama on Sunday. He finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI, walk and stolen base.
In the series finale, he went 1-for-2 with his first home run as a Bearcat. He added an RBI walk in the 8-1 victory.
The Bearcats swept the four-game series from the Lions to improve to 6-6 on the season. It marked UC's first four-game sweep since May 20-22, 2021 against Tulane.
