CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati senior Sophia Finotti and junior Ava Goeller were named the AAC's Defender and Midfielder of the Week, respectively, while freshman Camryn Callaghan and junior Lauren Ottensmeyer earned Honor Roll nods for their performances last week.

The Bearcats (7-3, 1-0 AAC) have already matched last year's win total. Saturday's 19-6 win over Vanderbilt was UC's first since 2019 and first 1-0 AAC start. The win marked both the program's most scored and fewest allowed in 12 all-time meetings with the Commodores. It was UC's highest margin of victory and most goals scored in any AAC match, in addition to Vanderbilt's second-most allowed in any game this year.

Goeller, earning her second-such award of the season, scored a career-high seven goals and added two assists in Cincinnati's 19-6 win against Vanderbilt, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 start in American Athletic Conference play for the first. The 2022 All-AAC Second-Teamer added two ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover against the Commodores. Goeller's nine points matched the most by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season, which includes Callaghan against Marquette on Feb. 19. Her 26 goals are second on the team and sixth in the AAC, while her 11 assists lead the Bearcats.

Finotti led Cincinnati's defensive effort that limited Vanderbilt to a season-low six goals and only 15 shots (also UC's best of the season) in the Bearcats' 19-6 win. Finotti had a ground ball and two caused turnovers and led a close defense that held the Commodores without a shot in the first quarter, allowing Cincinnati to build a 4-0 lead in the first 15 minutes. Finotti also engineered Cincinnati's clear, which went 14-for-14 on the day. This marks her first-career AAC honor.

Callaghan scored four goals for her ninth hat trick in 10 games, and she is second in the AAC with 38 goals. Ottensmeyer, who is eighth, scored four goals with an assist.

Cincinnati hosts Butler on Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Nippert Stadium for its final non-conference tilt. Admission is free.
