BLUFFTON, S.C. -- The Cincinnati men's golf team will seek a strong final round Tuesday following a 12th-place standing through 36 holes at the strong Colleton River Collegiate.

"Today was a perfect day to play golf, and we did not play well," head coach Doug Martin said. "I felt we were extremely well-prepared and just never found any rhythm in either round. Sometimes, that's how this game works. It's very important that we bounce back tomorrow with a positive day."

Ryan Ford led the pack with a 6-under 138 on the heels of his school-record showing in Puerto Rico. William McDonald's 141 was his second-best 36-hole total, trailing only his Dorado Beach Collegiate as well.

Sam Jean is third on the squad following 73 and 69, the best improvement on the team. Rylan Wotherspoon did the same on the individual circuit. Ty Gingerich, who had the best of the Bearcats' opening rounds, is fourth on the scorecard, followed by freshman Wyatt Plattner.

There has been good history in this tournament, however. UC posted a then-school-record 270 to jump from sixth to second in this field last year.
