BLUFFTON, S.C. -- William McDonald carded the best round of the Bearcats' final day of the Colleton River Collegiate, jumping to 13th place to end the week and UC's second spring tournament, where it finished 12th.
It marked the second-straight tourney that McDonald had his best finish of the season, coming in 16th when UC claimed the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico. His 68 was one stroke off a season-low and marked his fourth of the year below 70, and his overall 7-under 209 matched the last event for a season-low.
Cincinnati's 14-under 850 kept its season-long streak of seven tournaments staying under par.
"Overall it was a tough week for the group," head coach Doug Martin said. "I knew it would be difficult to put together back-to-back 30-plus under-par weeks. We had great preparation leading in, we just didn't get the job done this week. We will get back to work on Thursday and get ready for Sea Island next week. We need to get some things corrected."
All teams in this field were ranked in the top-100. Sam Jean was able to continue his rally with a second-straight 3-under 69 to tie for 23rd. Ryan Ford finished 34th, followed by Ty Gingerich and Wyatt Plattner. Rylan Wotherspoon was 53rd as he competed individually.
The two-day Sea Island Collegiate, hosted by Rutgers, starts next Monday in Sea Island, Ga.
