CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics has opened applications for the 2023-24 Fan Council.
The selected participants will assist the department in assessing and evaluating the fan experience at UC sporting events with an overall goal of enhancing the experience and advancing new concepts for all Bearcats fans entering the Big 12 era.
"What an experience being a member of the inaugural UC Athletics Fan Council," Ali Stevens said. "It stemmed from an idea and brought together a group of Bearcats fans, who normally would not interact, doing things we were already doing, to benefit the athletics department. Learning the ins and outs of how the athletics department is run helped me understand their challenges and opportunities in a different perspective. Bringing together fans of different backgrounds allowed us to suggest many ideas to the department, some that were even implemented! It was a great experience to have a positive impact on UC Athletics and meet a new group of Bearcats fans. I encourage every fan to apply and give back to your favorite university in a fun, collaborative way."
The athletics department is seeking 15-20 dedicated fans to form a demographically diverse representation of our fan base, which will also include season ticket holders, alumni, faculty/staff, students, and general fans. Applicants should be able to commit to at least 9 of 12 meetings on the first Tuesday of each month from June through May 2024. Council members will be notified of their selections by mid-May.
"Being a member of the inaugural Bearcat Fan Council was an honor," Mark Wiesenhahn said. "This opportunity has increased my appreciation for the people, programs, and departments that make UC Athletics so unique. I appreciate having served on the Council with fellow alumni, students, and fans, and I wish to thank the University of Cincinnati Athletics Department for providing a platform for fans to share their opinions and ideas about Bearcats athletics. A special thank you to the Marketing and Fan Experience team for leading our monthly meetings. Go Bearcats!"
Prospective members can apply here.
"Being a member of the UC Fan Council has provided incredible behind the scenes access to UC athletics," Chris Peltier. "I have enjoyed meeting and interacting with fellow UC fans. I am proud that the input we provided was used to directly enhance fan experiences as well as influence and shape the journey to joining the Big 12!"
