TicketsFRANKLIN, Tenn. -- The Cincinnati men's golf team completed its first day of the Mason Rudolph Championships, sitting in 10th.
"We drove the ball very poorly to start the round today," head coach Doug Martin said. "The rough is up and the pins were very difficult to access. We got behind early and just never recovered. Fortunately, we have two more days and 36 holes to get some momentum moving forward."
Ryan Ford built off his AAC Golfer of the Week honor by pacing UC with a 72 in the opening round, including two birdies to close. Four of UC's five golfers had improvements in the back-nine compared to the front, with William McDonald going down by five. Each of his top-two finishes this year began the spring.
Ford is tied for 28th, while McDonald and Ty Gingerich are 39th. Sam Jean and Rylan Wotherspoon follow.
