The two teams met earlier this season on March 1 in Cincinnati, resulting in a 15-12 loss for the Bearcats. After a two-hour weather delay, the RedHawks overcame a two-run deficit and scored five unanswered runs over the final three innings.

// JOE NUXHALL CLASSIC
Cincinnati hosts the second round of the Joe Nuxhall Classic on April 11. Wright State and Xavier will face off in the first leg of the doubleheader at 2 p.m. before UC hosts Miami (OH) in the night cap at 6 p.m. inside UC Baseball Stadium.

The tournament began in 2009 to honor Joe Nuxhall, legendary Reds player and announcer. Nuxhall became the youngest player ever to appear in an MLB game when he took the mound for the Cincinnati Reds against the St. Louis Cardinals at Crosley Field on June 10, 1944 at the age of 15. He played for 16 years in the Major Leagues and immediately upon retiring, began a 40-year broadcasting career with the Reds.

UC has won the classic three times, while Wright State leads the group with four classics won. Xavier claimed its second crown last year, snapping Miami's streak of three classics won in a row. UC is 12-13 in the event and won in 2010, 2011 and 2014.
