CINCINNATI— Senior Fred Moudani was named American Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his recording-setting performance at the Tennessee Invite, the conference announced Tuesday.
This is the second time in Moudani's career that he has garnered the Athlete of the Week distinction, but his first during the outdoor season.
In his season debut, Moudani solidified his position as the best men's shot put thrower ever to don a UC uniform as he broke the Cincinnati outdoor record with a throw of 19.31m/63'4.25" at the Tennessee Invite on April 8.
He broke former Bearcat Macklin Tudor's record of 18.90m/62'0.25", which he set in 2017. Moudani now holds both the indoor and outdoor Cincinnati shot put records.
The Savigny-Le-Temple, France, native won the event with his record mark and is now currently ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region and 12th in the nation. His throw is also first in the American Athletic Conference.
Moudani joins teammate senior Rylee Penn as the only Bearcats to earn an Athlete of the Week distinction this outdoor season.
