GREENVILLE, N.C. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to No. 9-ranked ECU, 13-3 (7), in the series finale on Sunday afternoon inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates completed a three-game sweep of the series while the Bearcats dropped to 15-22, 3-6 in the American.
Redshirt junior catcher Cam Scheler went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. He belted his second home run of the year in the fifth inning. Sophomore two-way player Tommy O'Connor finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk.
Cincinnati used five pitchers in the game. Freshman starter Tommy Boba got the Bearcats off to a good start, allowing just one run on three hits in two innings of work. Senior Mitch White (1-1) came out of the bullpen and took the loss.
The Bearcats scored three runs on five hits and left seven runners on base while the Pirates scored 13 runs on 12 hits and stranded four baserunners.

ECU got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single to center field.
Boba tossed a scoreless frame in the second to bring the Bearcats up to bat in the third. Scheler laid down a one-out bunt while Kerrington Cross drew a walk to put runners on first and second. O'Connor delivered a single through the left side to drive in the Bearcats' first run of the game. Cross would later steal home to give UC the 2-1 advantage.
The Pirates quickly responded with a pair of four-spots in the third and fourth innings. In the top of the fifth, Scheler stepped into the batter's box and belted a lead-off, solo home run to center field.
ECU went on to score four more runs to account for the 13-3 seven-inning final score.
