CINCINNATI — University of Cincinnati senior women's high jumper Taylor Beard was named American Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Tom Jones Memorial meet, the conference announced Tuesday.

This is the third time in Beard's career that she has garnered the Athlete of the Week distinction, but first of the outdoor season.

Beard earned the distinction after clearing a bar height of 1.84m/6'0.5" to win the women's high jump at the Tom Jones Memorial meet in her season debut. Her new outdoor, personal-best mark moved her to third all-time in program history.

The Winchester, Va., native now holds the top spot in the AAC and her mark is currently ranked sixth in the nation and third in the NCAA East region.

Beard joins classmates Rylee Penn and Fred Moudani as the only Bearcats to earn Athlete of the Week honors this outdoor season.
