Hall Leads Bearcats at Gibson Invitational

The University of Cincinnati track and field program sent a small group of multi-event athletes to compete in the Gibson Invitational that wrapped up competition on Friday, April 14.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.— The University of Cincinnati track and field program sent a small group of multi-event athletes to compete in the Gibson Invitational that wrapped up competition on Friday, April 14.  
 
Sophomore Dominique Hall led the way for the Bearcats recording a personal best 7,065 points in the men's decathlon, placing third overall. His score was the 10th most points ever scored in a decathlon in UC program history. His point total also ranks 32nd in the NCAA and first in the American Athletic Conference.
 
Out of the 10 events, Hall placed inside the top three in five and recorded five personal best. He tied for first in the long jump with a leap of 7.15m/23'5.5" and had three second-place finishes in the 400-meter dash (49.11), 100-meter dash (10.99) and pole vault (4.30m).
 
Also competing on the men's side was sophomore Justin Abrams scored a personal best 5,560 points as he placed 13th overall. Abrams's best event finish was in the discus, where he threw a personal best 36.14m/118'7" and finished fourth overall.
 
On the women's side, freshmen Faith Kingsley and Lauren Barnes made their heptathlon debuts. Kingsley finished ninth overall, scoring 4,458 points, as she finished inside the top 10 in both the high jump (4th) and the long jump (7th) events.
 
Barnes placed 15th overall in the heptathlon and scored 4,076. Barnes won the high jump section with a mark of 1.72m/5'7.75".
