KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— Senior Fred Moudani broke the University of Cincinnati shot put record as the Bearcats claimed seven event wins at the Tennessee Invite on Saturday at the Tom Black Track.
Moudani solidified his position as the best men's shot put thrower ever to don a UC uniform as he broke the Cincinnati outdoor record with a throw of 19.31m/63'4.25"." He broke former Bearcat Macklin Tudor's record of 18.90m/62'0.25", which he set in 2017. Moudani now holds both the indoor and outdoor Cincinnati shot put records.
The Savigny-Le-Temple, France, native won the event with his record mark and is now currently ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region and ninth in the nation. His throw is also first in the American Athletic Conference.
Including Modani's shot put victory, Bearcats won seven events over the three-day meet.
Junior Leonie Troeger dominated the women's javelin, winning with a throw of 50.08m/164'3" in her season debut. Her throw was 20 feet further than second-place finisher Dayton's Casey Bogues (44.19m/144'11").
Sophomore Korbin Spencer took first place in men's discus with a throw of 54.65m/179'-3". His new personal best mark not only leads the American Athletic Conference but is also the fifth-best throw in program history.
Freshman Ben Fiser earned his first collegiate win in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 55.39m/181'8". His personal best is the eighth-best throw in UC history and currently leads the AAC.
For the second meet in a row, freshman sprinter Jayda Bushay claimed first in the women's 200m dash. She ran a time of 23.88 seconds, the ninth-fastest in program history.
Graduate student Keco Morrison placed first overall in the men's 400-meter run after crossing the finishing line with a time of 48.00.
Graduate student Nyile Facey added her name to the UC history book after she ran the fifth-fastest women's 400-meter hurdles (1:01.40) in school history. She placed third overall in the event.
The Cincinnati Women's 4x100m relay team of Bushay, Facey, freshman Kaira Granger and junior Alicia Thorpe spirited their way to a first-place finish with a time of 46.39 seconds.
