TicketsCINCINNATI— For the second time this season, senior Fred Moudani was named American Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his recording-setting performance at the Penn Relays, the conference announced Tuesday.
This is the third time in Moudani's career that he has garnered the Men's Field Athlete of the Week distinction and is the second time this outdoor season he earned the honor. His first came during the week of April 11.
At the Penn Relays, Moudani broke his own UC outdoor shot put record with a throw of 20.03m/65'8.75". This is the third time this season that he has accomplished the feat as he bested his previous best by almost a full meter (19.35m/63' 6"). Moudani currently holds both the indoor and outdoor Cincinnati shot put records.
The Savigny-Le-Temple, France native placed third overall in the event and his throw is currently ranked ninth in the nation and third in the NCAA East Region.
With AAC Outdoor Championships quickly approaching, Moudani's throw ranks first in the conference and is just over six feet further than teammate junior Giovanni Gutierrez (18.05m/59'2.75), who ranks second in the conference.
Moudani is joined by classmates Rylee Penn and Taylor Beard as the only Bearcats to earn Athlete of the Week honors this outdoor season. Moudani is the only one to earn the honor multiple times.

The Bearcats will close out the regular season with a trip to Bloomington, Ind., for the Billy Hayes Invitational. The one-day meet will be held on Friday at the Robert C. Haugh Complex.
