CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Athletics Department continued its academic success for all 18 sports in the latest installment of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) released by the NCAA last week.
A school-record 12 teams achieved perfect single-year scores, the fifth consecutive year that double-digit teams surpassed the mark, while four teams also posted perfect multi-year averages.
Cincinnati maintained a multi-year average of 993, nine points higher than the national mark of 984. In addition to its multi-year average, the department also posted a single-year score of 996, both scores which rank the highest of any current or future Big 12 members.
Women's soccer (1,000), women's basketball (996) and football (994) also maintained the highest multi-year averages in their respective sports compared to other conference programs.
The APR provides a real-time measurement of a team's academic success by tracking eligibility and progress toward graduation of each student-athlete on scholarship. The current data contains multi-year marks from the 2018-19 academic year through the 2021-22 academic year.
The NCAA Division I Board of Directors states that teams must maintain a 930 four-year APR score to compete in 2023-24 postseason action and not face possible sanctions. This is the 19th year of the APR report, including the second-consecutive year after foregoing one report due to installment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
