Four Bearcats Medal on Day Two of AAC Championships

Senior Fred Moudani-Likibi, graduate student Milo Greder and sophomore Dominique Hall all claimed individual conference titles as the University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up day two of the 2023 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

TAMPA, Fla.— Senior Fred Moudani-Likibi, graduate student Milo Greder and sophomore Dominique Hall all claimed individual conference titles as the University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up day two of the 2023 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
 
At the end of day two, the UC men's team is ranked third in the team standings with 59 points, while the women's team ends the day in sixth with 27 points.
 
Greder kicked off day two for the Bearcats by winning the men's 10,000m with a time of 31:32.91. Greder used a big kick on the final lap to pass Wichita State's Adrian Diaz-Lopez right before crossing the finish line to earn his first outdoor AAC individual title.
 
Moudani-Likibi, completed his AAC shot put sweep as he claimed the outdoor conference title by breaking the meet record with a throw of 19.71m (64'8"). The senior has claimed both the indoor and outdoor shot put conference titles this year and broke both meet records in the process.
 
In total, the UC men's team scored 25 points in the men's shot put as four Bearcats placed inside the top five. Joining Moudani-Likibi on the podium was junior Giovanni Gutierrez, who placed third overall with a throw of 17.72m (58'1.75").  Sophomore Korbin Spencer placed fourth with a throw of 17.23m (56'6.5") and junior Jackson Vollbrecht rounded out the Bearcats in fifth with a mark of 17.00m (55'9.25").  
 
Hall earned his first conference title after scoring a meet-record 7,498 points in the men's decathlon. His score is the third most points scored by a Bearcat in the decathlon. He joins former Bearcats Alex Bloom and Cannon Riddle as the only Bearcats to claim the AAC decathlon titles.
 
The Alabaster, Ala. Native finished inside the top-three seven of the 10 events and place no lower than fourth. Hall won the 400-meter dash by breaking the meet record with a time of 47.86. He placed second in the men's long jump (7.07m/23'2.5"), 110-meter hurdles (14.71), 1500-meter (4:39.01) and discus (40.21). He also placed third in both the 100m dash (10.92) and high jump (1.89m/6'2.25").
 
Also scoring points for the men's team in the decathlon was sophomore Justin Abrams, who finished fifth with 6,816 points. Abrams broke The American decathlon pole vault meet record by clearing a height of 4.95m (16' 2.75") to win the event.
 
After the conclusion of the men's decathlon, the meet enters a lengthy rain delay that lasted over four hours, but that did not slow down seven UC track athletes from qualifying for Sunday's finals.
 
Graduate student Nyile Facey qualified for her second final on Sunday as she ran the third fastest 100m hurdle time (13.34) in program history to advance. She will compete in both the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles.
 
Three Bearcats advanced to Sunday's men's 800m final. Senior Tyler Wirth lead the way clocking the third-fastest time in the preliminary round (1:50.68). Both juniors David Endres (1:51.07) and Jack Barchet (1:51.38) also advanced. Both Wirth and Barchet aslo qualified for Sunday's 1500m run final as well. 
 
Sprinters graduate student Keco Morrison ran the fastest 400m time in the preliminary round crossing the finish line at the 46.57 mark. He will be the top seed in Sunday's final.

The Bearcats will continue their quest for an AAC Championship title on the final day of the 2023 AAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Sunday's schedule will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault.
