CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team concludes the regular season with a three-game road series at Houston, beginning Thursday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Schroeder Park.
 
Cincinnati (23-29, 9-12 AAC) sits fifth in the American Athletic Conference with one series left to play. 
 
Last time out, the Bearcats finished the home portion of their schedule with a 10-6 midweek win over Georgetown on Tuesday. Graduate student starter Dylan Brosky earned his third win of the season in six quality innings. He allowed just one run on four hits and struck out four batters with two walks. He surpassed 200 career strikeouts in the top of the second inning.
 
First baseman Ryan Nicholson hit his team-leading 13th home run of the season to break into UC's all-time top-10 list for career home runs with 30. He is one homer away from a ninth-place tie with Ryan Minges (1997, 99-01) with 31. 
 
Nicholson has a .295 average (57-for-193) with 13 home runs, 34 RBI and 38 runs scored in 49 starts. He leads the club in hits (57), home runs (13), doubles (15) and multi-hit games (17) and is tied for first on the team in RBI (34).
 
Redshirt sophomore Kerrington Cross received National Player of the Week recognition from Collegiate Baseball on Monday. He batted .375 (6-for-16) in four starts last week with eight RBI, six runs scored and five extra-base hits. He finished with a .412 on-base percentage and 1.188 slugging percentage. 
 
Cross belted four home runs in Cincinnati's three-game series against UCF. He is the first Bearcat to hit a home run in three straight games since teammate Ryan Nicholson did so at Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 19-20, 2022. He is currently batting .311 (23-for-74) in conference games with five homers, five doubles and 25 runs scored.
 
Sophomore two-way player Tommy O'Connor has a .390 average (16-for-41) in conference play with a .902 slugging percentage and .537 on-base percentage. He has five home runs in just 12 AAC games. 
 
Cincinnati and Houston have met 55 times in program history, with the Cougars leading the all-time series 39-16. 
 
The Bearcats took two of three in a series versus Houston last season on April 8-10, 2022 in Cincinnati. The Cougars claimed the opener, 5-4, before UC went on to win the next two, 13-3 (7) and 9-6.

Houston sits atop league standings with a 15-5 AAC record. The Cougars have won all seven of their conference series this season. 
 
Houston is batting .289 as a team and holds a 6.12 staff ERA, backed by a .981 fielding percentage. The Cougars lead the league in stolen bases (96), sacrifice flies (28), saves (17) and field percentage (.981). 
 
Justin Murray leads the AAC with a .368 average (67-for-182) in 49 games played with nine doubles, seven homers, seven sacrifice flies and 42 runs scored. Zach Arnold has a .360 average (67-for-188) with a team-high 11 home runs.
