Cincinnati Men's Track and Field Team Wrap Up Competition at NCAA East Prelims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.— University of Cincinnati track and field athletes sophomore Korbin Spencer and junior Carlos Kouassi capped off their season on day three of the NCAA East First Round at Hodges Stadium on Friday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.— University of Cincinnati track and field athletes sophomore Korbin Spencer and junior Carlos Kouassi capped off their season on day three of the NCAA East First Round at Hodges Stadium on Friday.
 
Spencer made his first appearance at the East First Round, competing in the men's discus. Korbin did not place in the event after fouling on all three of his attempts.
 
Kouassi also made his East First Round debut in the men's triple jump. The Basel, Switzerland native failed to record a mark after faulting twice and passing on his final attempt.
 
Senior Fred Moudani-Likibi was the only member of the UC men's team to qualify for the outdoor national championships. Moudani-Likibi qualified for the championships in the men's shot put after finishing sixth overall with a throw of 19.56m (64'2.25") on the opening day of the meet. The outdoor championships will be held June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.

Six Bearcat women will look to punch their tickets to Austin on the final day of the NCAA East First Round. The Cincinnati women's high jump squad of Taylor Beard, Annika Kinley, Lauren Barnes and Spirit Morgan will start the day off for the Bearcats as the women's high jump competition will begin at 2:30 p.m.
 
Both senior Rylee Penn and graduate student Nyile Facey each advance to the quarterfinals in their respective events. Penn will run in the women's 1500-meter beginning at 5:15 p.m. and Facey will run an hour later at 6:15 in the women's 100-meter hurdle.
 
Sophomore Abby Knouff (pole vault) and junior Leonie Troeger (javelin) punched their tickets to Austin on Thursday.
