CINCINNATI— University of Cincinnati track athlete freshman Seth Elking won the men's Flying Pig Half Marathon presented by Paycor as part of the 25th Flying Pig Marathon Weekend on Sunday.
Elking completed the 13.1-mile course throughout downtown Cincinnati and parts of Kentucky in 1:10:56 to finish first overall. Elking averaged an event-leading mile pace of 5:25.
The Miamisburg, Ohio, native battled tough weather conditions but told WLWT's Ashley Kirklen that he loves to run in the rain. "It makes you faster, I think," Elking said.
Other Bearcats competing in this weekend's events were Cincinnati distance coach Sarah Anderson in the women's half marathon (188, 1:35:07), while both seniors Maggie Breitenstein (408, 3:32:00) and Gabriela Varisco de Oliveria (495, 3:38.16) competed in the women's Flying Pig Full Marathon presented by P&G.
