CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati attacker Camryn Callaghan capped off her excellent freshman season with an invite to the 2024 USA Lacrosse U20 Team, the first Bearcat ever to earn such an honor.

Nearly 100 of the nation's top women's lacrosse players will come to USA Lacrosse headquarters next month for tryouts for the squad. The tryouts will be held July 7-9 in preparation for the world championship which will be held in Hong Kong from August 15-25, 2024.

Callaghan was the AAC Freshman of the Year, joining Kylie Nause (2019) as UC's second in four years, as well as a First-Team honoree. She scored 56 goals to lead all freshman nationally, as well as set a new UC rookie record. It also marked the third-most in program history. She tied the school-record with eight goals against eventual top-25 Marquette, in addition to five goals against Gardner-Webb, Robert Morris, Butler and Old Dominion, plus four each against Davidson and Vanderbilt. The Upper Arlington native had 12 hat tricks in all.

Callaghan also attended the NIL Summit in Atlanta this past weekend with five other UC student-athletes.

The 99 players invited to the tryout come from 14 states, and the District of Columbia, and represent 29 colleges through their current teams or commitments. This will be the most experienced team in U.S. history with the increase in age level, and 37 of the players invited to tryouts have made USA Select teams in the last two years as part of the National Team Development Program.
