CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati athletics department led the American Athletic Conference for the second-straight year in Team Academic Excellence Awards, this time nabbing seven awards across 18 possible sports to close out its AAC era.

This also comes on the heels of setting the league-record of 10 in 2021-22. Sam Jean, as announced on Wednesday, also earned Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades.

UC boasted 289 Academic All-AAC individuals overall. Individual criteria includes attaining a cumulative GPA of 3.00 for the preceding academic year and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a minimum 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

The seven honored sports were men's basketball (second-straight season), women's basketball (second), football (second), lacrosse (third), men's swimming and diving (third), women's tennis (fifth) and men's cross country (second). The team academic excellence awards recognize the institution in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest cumulative GPA. Each institution will calculate the GPA for each Conference sponsored sport by a formula that weighs each student's GPA by credit hour completed.

Eight Bearcats have also earned CSC Academic All-America honors in the last two years, with Jean and Wilson Huber (football) making it in 2022-23.
