HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.— The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team closed out it's preseason by crossing the river for an exhibition match against Northern Kentucky on Sunday.
"It was a good last tune up game before our opener at Michigan State," head coach Erica Demers said.
"NKU is a hard-nosed team and really challenged our team for the full time. I thought we created some great final third moments but we were just missing that final end product. Loads of learning left for this group and excited to get started to get the season started on Thursday."
As an exhibition match no stats were recorded game, but the Bearcats were able to generate consistent looks in the second half after juniors Laura Zemberyova and Iris Schuh sent two shots off the crossbar in less than two minutes of each other early in the half.
On Wednesday, Aug, 9, Cincinnati faced Marshall in their first exhibition of the year as part of the teams preparation for the upcoming season.
The Bearcats will open the 2023 season on the road in East Lansing, Mich., taking on Michigan State. The match will be head coach Demers first official game as UC's head coach after spending the last six season as the head of the University of Alabama Birmingham's program.
The Bearcats home opener will be on Aug. 24 as the team will welcome Bowling Green to Getter stadium. The complete schedule for the 2023 season can found here.
