Bearcats Strong is a year-long recognition program for UC student-athletes who exemplify strength in all facets of student life that was launched in 2011. The award focuses on the whole person, not just the student and not just the athlete. It factors academics, leadership, professionalism, and work ethic. If you are BEARCATS STRONG, you exhibit the qualities that the UC athletic department, your coach and your team stand for.
Today, the award is known as the Ally Sidloski Bearcat STRONG Award. It is named after former UC women's soccer player Ally Sidloski, who tragically lost her life the summer before her senior soccer season. Ally was as well-rounded as they come. She was an honors student in the College of Business, she was a standout on the soccer field, and she was always willing to go above and beyond to help others. On Sunday, August 20, UC Athletics as a part of the 2023 Inaugural Big 12 Pep Rally, honored the 2022-23 class of Ally Sidloski Bearcats STRONG Award winners.
Sixty-six student-athletes earned this award by meeting all three of the benchmarks outlined for the Ally Sidloski Bearcats STRONG award. The criteria includes meeting benchmarks for STRONG in BODY (Sports Performance dedication and consistency), STRONG in MIND (Academic GPA minimums and commitments), and STRONG in CHARACTER (Academy commitments and additional events).
As the 66 student-athletes received their award swag, the awardees honored were captured in a photo at the completion of the pep rally on Sunday with the David and Tracie Sidloski, the parents of Ally, who traveled to Cincinnati from Strongsville to attend the event.
