CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell to Xavier in four sets on Saturday night. The Bearcats set a new volleyball attendance record with 3,358 fans packed inside Fifth Third Arena.
Cincinnati also set a new program record for service aces in a four-set match with 18. Junior Shaye Eggleston dished out a career-high seven aces.
Graduate student Jadyn Bauss led the Bearcats with a match-high 18 kills at a .273 clip. She added nine digs, five aces and four blocks in the all-around performance.
Middle blockers Abby Walker and Ligia Williams combined for 22 kills and nine blocks.

SET 1 | Back-to-back aces from Eggleston propelled Cincinnati on a 5-0 scoring run to lead 16-8. The Musketeers pulled within four to force a UC timeout at 19-15. Xavier outscored UC 8-2 to win the stanza in extra points, 28-26. Williams had four kills at an .800 clip in the set.
SET 2 | Cincinnati claimed the second set behind nine service aces in the frame. Bauss accounted for five of six points in a scoring run, including four service aces. The set win was sealed by an ace from Katelyn Lefler, 25-16.
SET 3 | The Bearcats scored four straight to lead by five, 17-12. Xavier responded with a 6-1 spurt to take the lead at 21-20. After the two teams traded points, the Musketeers scored three of the final four points to win 25-23.
SET 4 | Cincinnati once again got off to a fast start, owning a 7-3 advantage. Xavier began to chip away and later tied up the stanza at 16 apiece. A kill from Walker and Eggleston's seventh ace gave UC a 20-18 lead. The Musketeers finished the frame on a 5-1 run to claim the victory, 25-23.
