The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics is strengthening its partnership with Altius Sports Partners (ASP) to enhance support for all Bearcats' stakeholders. After a successful first year in the ASP NIL General Manager program, Cincinnati is expanding its collaboration with Altius to form a dedicated Athlete Services Department through the addition of a crucial new role: the ASP Partner Services Manager (PSM).
Cincinnati was among the first six athletics departments to join the ASP NIL General Manager program in July 2022, which placed full-time staff on campuses. ASP will recruit, onboard, support, and oversee a UC-designated PSM, with the mission of advancing NIL efforts to empower Bearcats athletes, coaches, and staff with the tools and resources necessary to maximize opportunities in this ever-changing landscape.
"Building on the success of our NIL General Manager program, we are excited to bolster our commitment to the student-athlete experience and our relationship with Altius by adding the Partner Services Manager position," said John Cunningham, Cincinnati's Director of Athletics. "NIL is a top priority for our athletic department, and expanding our NIL program here at UC will pave the way for future growth and set us up to compete at the very highest level."
The PSM will report to Greg Harrell, the full-time on-campus ASP General Manager for UC Athletics. Harrell, who joined shortly after the partnership with Altius began, is responsible for leading the Bearcats' NIL strategy, education, and exploring new athlete business opportunities.
"Reflecting on my first year leading the UC NIL program, it has been an exciting journey, and I'm thrilled about the progress we've made. The addition of the Partner Services Manager marks a significant step forward, reinforcing our commitment to the student-athlete experience in the Big 12 Conference," said Harrell.
The PSM has a vital function in UC's Athlete Services Department, focusing on educating donors, brands, and other external stakeholders. Moreover, the PSM will assist in developing materials and resources to further enhance partnerships and collaborations with national, regional, and local brands, all guided by the GM. The PSM role involves establishing, overseeing, and nurturing connections with external stakeholders and brands through educational efforts intended to optimize NIL for the university, benefiting athletes, coaches, and staff across the board.
"This position will bolster Greg's efforts and galvanize Cincinnati's support for its athletes. It also underscores our commitment to delivering top-tier service and harnessing the full potential of Altius' current and future offerings, ultimately empowering all stakeholders to excel in an ever-evolving collegiate athletics landscape," said Andrew Donovan, EVP, ASP College at Altius Sports Partners.
