CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team earned a four-set victory over Wright State on Saturday at the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational in Dayton, Ohio.
Cincinnati concludes non-conference play with a record of 7-3. The Bearcats will now turn their attention to Big 12 action, slated to begin with a home series against UCF on Sept. 21-22.
Junior Abby Walker had a match-high 12 kills at a .393 hitting percentage. Junior Katelyn Lefler dished out 32 assists to go along with 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.
Cincinnati held Wright State to a .178 hitting percentage to go along with nine blocks and 62 digs.

SET 1 | Wright State owned a five-point advantage to force a UC timeout (11-6). The Raiders extended their lead to nine after a 4-0 run (17-8). The deficit proved too large to overcome as the Bearcats dropped the first set, 25-14. The Bearcats struggled offensively, hitting .000 (6-6-28) while Wright State hit .286 with 13 kills.
SET 2 | Back-to-back kills from Lefler and Walker gave UC an 8-6 advantage. The Bearcats then used a 4-1 run, highlighted by three kills from Jadyn Bauss, to lead 15-10 at the media timeout. The Raiders cut their deficit to three (17-14) before Cincinnati rattled off four straight, including back-to-back blocks from Ligia Williams. Williams finished with four kills and two blocks to guide UC to the set win, 25-16.
SET 3 | The Bearcats jumped out to an 8-4 advantage after a Williams kill. Cincinnati then ripped a 6-1 scoring run for a nine-point lead at the media timeout (15-6). Wright State rallied late to reclaim the lead at 22-21. Carly Glendinning immediately answered with a kill and the Bearcats held on to win the frame, 25-23.
SET 4 | The fourth set saw five ties and two lead changes. Trailing 14-11, Cincinnati subbed in Elissa Alcantara on the outside. From that moment, the Bearcats went on an 8-1 run to force a Wright State timeout (19-15). Three straight blocks highlighted the Bearcats' final points of the match as Cincinnati won the set, 25-21.
