CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team completed a perfect weekend at the Golden Eagle Tournament with a sweep of host Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon in Cookeville, Tenn.
Cincinnati improves to 5-1 on the season for its best start since 2018. Jadyn Bauss was named Most Valuable Player while Abby Walker and Zeta Washington were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bearcats hit .340 as a team behind 36 assists from junior setter Katelyn Lefler. She added 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. She averaged 11.55 assists per set in the 3-0 weekend.
Three Bearcats finished with double-digit kills: Bauss (14), Shaye Eggleston (10) and Washington (10). It marked the fifth time this season Bauss led the Bearcats in kills. Cincinnati also posted seven aces, including a match-high four from Walker.
Cincinnati's defense held Tennessee Tech to a .100 hitting percentage. Carly Skrabak and Julie Wittekind each recorded 10 digs in the win.

SET 1 | Cincinnati jumped out to a 7-4 lead after back-to-back kills from Washington. After the media timeout, Cincinnati rattled off eight straight points to lead 22-11. Walker recorded three aces during the stretch. The Bearcats claimed the opening set, 25-13, behind a .357 hitting percentage. Washington had six kills at a .714 clip.
SET 2 | With Molly Harrison behind the service line, the Bearcats scored seven straight points to lead at the 15-point mark (15-4). Cincinnati stayed in control for the remainder of the set, winning the frame 25-11. Eggleston led the Bearcats with six kills at a .500 clip in the stanza.
SET 3 | The third set saw nine ties and six lead changes. The Eagles used a 4-0 run to take a 12-10 advantage, but the Bearcats reclaimed the lead after three straight TTU errors. The Eagles responded with a 3-0 spurt to jump back in front. After a Bearcat timeout, Cincinnati outscored Tennessee Tech 10-4 to win the set, 25-20. Bauss put down three straight kills to finish off the match.
