CINCINNATI— The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team (1-4-3) returns to Gettler Stadium on Thursday to host TCU (4-3-2) in the team's Big 12 home opener.
 
The match will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+/Big 12 Now. A subscription to the streaming service is required to watch the game. Fans can also follow along with the live stats found here.
 
All UC home soccer games are free for fans to attend. Thursday's match is World Cup and Tie Dye night. Fans can enter a raffle for a chance to win USWNT team gear. The first 100 students can show their Bearcat Card at the marketing table to receive a ticket to tie dye a t-shirt during halftime.
 
// CONFERENCE HOME OPENERS
This will be the Bearcats' first home Big 12 conference matchup since the university joined the Big 12 on July 1. Cincinnati holds a record of 9-13-7 in home conference openers. Last season, the team tied Memphis 2-2 in its AAC opener. 
 
// THE MATCH UP
The match will be the fourth meeting between the two programs. The Bearcats lead the overall series 2-1-0 and are tied 1-1-0 when the match is played inside Gettler Stadium. The last time the teams squared off was 20 years ago when Cincinnati suffered a 2-1 loss inside Gettler Stadium in 2003. The first match between the two programs occurred in 1991, as the Bearcats earned a 2-0 victory in Fort Worth, Texas.
 
Fun Fact: This is the second time Cincinnati and TCU have competed in the same conference. Both teams were members of C-USA for two seasons (2002-03).
 
// LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats recorded a season-high 15 shots, seven on goal, as the team tied Kansas State, 1-1, in its Big 12 opener in Manhattan, Kan.
 
After a physical first half, junior forward Laura Zemberyova netted the first goal of the match with a laser from well outside the box on a feed from teammate graduate student forward Teni Akindoju in the 64th minute. The goal was Zemberyova's second of the season and the eighth of her career. 
 
// SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
TCU is coming off a decisive 3-1 win against Stephen F. Austin where the team recorded 25 shots. The Horned Frogs opened conference action with a 3-3 draw against No. 1 BYU last Thursday.
 
TCU has been ranked or received votes in every poll this season coming in as high as No. 9 in the preseason poll. Grace Brian leads TCU in goals (4) and AJ Hennessey leads the team in assists (4). TCU is led by head coach Eric Bell, who is in his 12th season at the helm of the Horned Frogs and holds a record of 126-74-37. Bell holds a career record of 133-84-37 in 13 seasons of coaching.

Not only has graduate student defender Ashley Barron cracked into the top 10 for career minutes (6th, 6,172 min.) but she is fast approaching the top 10 in career starts. She has started 70 of her 71 career matches and is five away from the 10th most.
 
Senior goalkeeper Anna Rexford is closing in on the all-time career saves list. She currently has recorded 167 career saves and is only two saves away from the 10th-most in program history.
 
The Wilmore, Ky., native is also currently ranked inside the top 10 in career wins (7th) and shutouts (8th).

Rexford currently ranks second in the Big 12 in saves per game (4.13) and ranks third in total saves (33).
 
// UP NEXT
Cincinnati will welcome Iowa State to Gettler Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 24 for its Play for 3 match. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+ and Big 12 Now. The Bearcats will honor the family of Ally Sidloski, a former midfielder who tragically passed away on May 22, 2021, with the announcement of a scholarship in her memory on Sunday. The program utilizes the We Play For 3 mantra as Sidloski wore the number three during her time as a Bearcat.
 
The Bearcats free post-match kids clinic will still be held despite the time change. The clinic is open to youth in 8th grade or younger, with a limit of 200 participants. Fans can sign up for the clinic here.
