CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team bounced back with a straight-set victory over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena.
Cincinnati split the two-match series with South Carolina to move to 6-2 on the season.
Junior Abby Walker hit an impressive .556 with 10 kills and no errors on 18 swings. She added four blocks, four digs and an ace in the win. Graduate student Jadyn Bauss finished with her second consecutive double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Middle blockers Ligia Williams and Zeta Washington recorded six blocks apiece as Cincinnati outblocked South Carolina 12-5.
Defensive trio Carly Skrabak, Kayla Hostetler and Julie Wittekind helped Cincinnati hold a 43-34 advantage in digs.
Offensively, the Bearcats hit .347 behind 27 assists from Katelyn Lefler, who added four kills, five digs and two blocks in the victory.

SET 1 | With Washington behind the service line, Cincinnati scored four straight to lead 11-7. The Bearcats then used a 4-1 run to extend their advantage to eight (20-12). UC cruised to the first-set victory, 25-17, behind five blocks.
SET 2 | Back-to-back kills by Carly Glendinning, followed by a block assist from Williams and Lefler gave UC a 10-5 lead. Walker slammed down two straight kills during a 5-0 run (19-8). Bauss' sixth kill clinched the set win, 25-15.
SET 3 | The Bearcats scored six straight, highlighted by three blocks, to lead 6-2. With the set later tied at 10 apiece, the Bearcats outscored the Gamecocks 6-2 to push the set out of reach (16-12). Bauss ended the match with her team-leading 12th kill, 25-20.
