CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team continues its road swing with a two-match series at TCU on Friday and Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. ET inside Schollmaier Arena.
Cincinnati's matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ and can be followed at StatBroadcast.
// SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the two teams in program history. The Bearcats hold a 40-38 record against Big 12 opponents. Cincinnati will face four Big 12 opponents for the first time this season: Kansas State, Kansas, Texas Tech and TCU.
// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati earned the program's first-ever Big 12 Conference victory on Sept. 30, defeating Kansas State in four sets in Manhattan, Kan. The Bearcats used a balance offensive attack, led by junior setter Katelyn Lefler who finished with 36 assists, 10 digs and five blocks. It marked her seventh double-double of the season. Five Bearcats had at least six kills in the match while four finished with double-doubles.
The Bearcats' defense shined as graduate student libero Carly Skrabak notched a match-high 22 digs and was an assist shy of double-double. Cincinnati held the advantage in digs (72-65) and blocks (12-10).
// MADE IN THE MIDDLE
Cincinnati has received valuable contributions from middle blockers Ligia Williams and Zeta Washington in Big 12 play. Williams is averaging 2.36 kills per set at a .328 clip while Washington is averaging 2.45 kills per set at a .333 clip. The duo ranks in the top 10 for blocks per set in conference games only. Williams ranks fourth with 1.45 blk/s while Washington sits eighth at 1.27 blk/s.
Washington recorded a team-high 12 kills at a .409 clip in UC's win at K-State. Williams added eight kills and tied her career high eight blocks. Williams posted a career-high 14 kills versus UCF on Sept. 21. Washington totaled 10 blocks in the two matches against the Knights.
// DIGGIN' THE DEFENSE
Five Bearcats are averaging more than 2.00 digs per set, with Skrabak boasting a team-best 4.31 average. The Bearcats have out-dug their opponents in 10 of 13 matches this season.
UC ranks second in the Big 12 and 42nd nationally in digs per set (15.92). UC held the advantage in digs at Kansas State (72-65). The 72 digs marked a new season-high for the Bearcats for a four-set match.
Cincinnati posted a season-high 91 digs against South Carolina on Sept. 9. It marked the most digs in a single match since October 15, 2021 when the Bearcats had 93 against Tuls
// STEADY SKRABAK
Graduate student Carly Skrabak is averaging 4.31 digs per set as the team's starting libero - good for fourth in the Big 12. She has led the team in digs in all but one match this season. Skrabak tied for the lead among league players with 5.50 digs per set during Week 6.
She's currently 16th among active career DI leaders with 1,698 career digs. She is 302 digs away from 2,000 in her career.
