CINCINNATI— University of Cincinnati women's soccer senior goalkeeper Anna Rexford was named Co-Goalkeeper of the Week on Wednesday after recording back-to-back shutouts against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma last week.
Rexford began last week by leading Cincinnati to a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma State on Thursday inside Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats held Oklahoma State to its lowest offensive shot total of the season with just five. The Cowgirls entered the match averaging 20 shots per game.
Rexford's victory against Oklahoma State was her 22nd career win, which broke a tie with former Bearcat Tracy Hale for the sixth-most in program history.
The Wilmore, Ky., native followed that performance with another shutout against Oklahoma.
Overall, she recorded four saves on 13 shots faced over the course of the two matches. The two shutouts bring her season total up to four and career total to 15, the seventh-most in program history.
Rexford ranks fourth in the Big 12 in goals-against average (0.86) and in total number of shutouts (3) in conference play.
The senior is also the first Bearcat to earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors this season. This marked her fourth conference weekly award of her career as she earned three AAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors over the past two seasons.
Rexford shares the honor with West Virginia goalkeeper Kayza Massey, who also recorded two shutouts last week.
