CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team suffered a four-set loss to No. 20-ranked Baylor on Friday night in Fifth Third Arena.
The Bearcats (9-8, 2-5 Big 12) were swept in their two-match series to the Bears.
Cincinnati struggled on service reception as Baylor recorded 12 service aces in the match. Baylor also held the advantage in digs (55-46), hitting percentage (.263-.154) and blocks (11-9).
Middle blockers Zeta Washington and Ligia Williams combined for 17 kills and nine blocks. Senior Elissa Alcantara added 10 kills – her third double-digit kill performance of the season.
Junior settler Katelyn Lefler turned in her 10th double-double of the season with 34 assists and 10 digs.

SET 1 | Cincinnati went on a 3-0 run to force a Baylor timeout (10-6). The Bearcats reached 15 first after a solo block by Washington. Cincinnati continued to pour on with a 5-0 scoring run, highlighted by a block assist from Williams and Carly Glendinning. The Bearcats claimed the opening set, 25-19.
SET 2 | The two teams traded points in the early going until Baylor scored five straight points to lead 15-9. The deficit proved too large to overcome as the Bearcats dropped the second set, 25-15. Cincinnati hit .000 (7-7-35) in the stanza.
SET 3 | Baylor jumped out to an 8-4 advantage to force a UC timeout. The Bearcats pulled within two before Baylor rattled off a 4-1 run (16-11). Cincinnati would not get any closer for the remainder of the set, falling 25-18.
SET 4 | Cincinnati pulled within three after an Abby Walker kill (11-8). The Bears then outscored the Bearcats 7-2 to lead by eight (18-10). Cincinnati fought back to cut its deficit to three (22-19), but Baylor held on to win the set, 25-21.
