// BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT
Cincinnati will be making its first appearance at the Big 12 Championship since the university joined the conference on July 1. The men's team will look to claim its third conference title in program history and its first since 1996, when UC was a member of Conference USA. The women's team will look to earn its first-ever cross country conference title.
In the team's final appearance in the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships last season, both the men's and the women's teams finished third overall in the team standings. Graduate students Tyler Wirth and Maddie Walker both earned AAC All-Conference honors and are the only returning athletes on this year's roster to achieve that feat.
// KEEP ON EYE ON THEM
Graduate student Tyler Wirth is a three-time AAC All-Conference honoree and has been the leader of the men's team all season long. In the season opener, RedHawk Rumble, Wirth won his first collegiate cross country meet and earned the program's first Big 12 Men's Athlete of the Week honors. Wirth enters the race coming off a fourth-place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic.
The dynamic duo of graduate student Maddie Walker and sophomore Claire Curtsinger have been a force on the women's side. The pair has finished as a 1-2 combo for the Bearcats in every meet this season.
Walker is a three-time AAC All-Conference honoree and finished eighth overall at the AAC Championships last season. She has been the Bearcats' top finisher in the team's last two meets.
Curtsinger has had a breakout season, recording 5k and 6k personal-best times. In the season opener, she finished as Cincinnati's top finisher for the first time in her career and will be making her first career conference championship appearance.
// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati placed three runners inside the top 15, battling tough conditions in its regular-season finale, the Bradley Pink Classic.
